The debris-flow distribution and fatality number are obtained from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. DEM data is from Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI). The black rectangle indicates the study area (see Fig. 4 for more detailed aerial photograph)
