Relationship between Miocene back-arc strata (Shimane Peninsula / Matsue area) and igneous activity in the back-arc region (Ishiga and Dozen 1997). Rift related submarine pyroclastic and intrusive successions are intercalated with terrigenous sediments. Post rifting activity is marked by monogenetic volcanism (12 Ma – recent) and arc volcanism (3 Ma - recent)
